how we are making a difference

We aim to replace all harmful, synthetic products with non-toxic, all-natural alternatives that are good for our planet and its people. In the hopes of diverting hundreds of rubber & PVCs from entering our landfills. That means products with no harmful chemicals, responsibly sourced materials, and a structure for giving back.

how we are setting the standard

1.
Responsibly Sourced Materials

sustainable & ethically sourced cork

The Rainforest Alliance is working with cork producers throughout Spain and Portugal to help all cork oak forests achieve Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification. By meeting the comprehensive social and environmental standards required to achieve FSC certification, cork producers in the region are able to ensure the continued protection of their cork oak forests.

2.
A chemical-free system

cork is non-toxic

Cork oak trees grow naturally without the need for man-made irrigation, pesticides, fertilizers, or pruning. This allows the material to have a very low carbon footprint without contributing to the pollution of waterways (like most common crops and materials do).

3.
zero waste production

cork processing is a zero waste system

Because cork is so versatile and can be ground down, every bit can be used so there is little to no waste.

After the cork is harvested, it is sent to a factory to be dried, boiled, and processed.

After processing, cork is then made into the products like cork yoga mats, furniture, flooring, shoes, backpacks, coasters, etc.

Processing in general is usually a very carbon-intensive process, but in the case of cork, it isn’t.

4.
a structure for giving back
